摘要: The Pd catalyst supported on cryptomelane-type manganese oxide octahedral molecular sieve (OMS-2) were prepared. The effect of Pd loading on the catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide, toluene, and ethyl acetate over Pd/OMS-2 has been investigated. The results show that the Pd loading plays an important role on the physicochemical properties of the Pd/OMS-2 catalysts which outperform the Pd-free counterpart with the 0.5Pd/OMS-2 catalyst being the best. The temperature for 50% conversion was 25, 240 and 160 °C, and the temperature for 90% conversion was 55, 285 and 200 °C for oxidation of CO, toluene, and ethyl acetate, respectively. The low-temperature reducibility and high oxygen mobility of Pd/OMS-2 are the factors contributable to the excellent catalytic performance of 0.5Pd/OMS-2.

Cooperative effect between copper species and oxygen vacancy in CeZrCuO catalysts for carbon monoxideoxidation

摘要: The effects of Zr doping on the existence of Cu and the catalytic performance of Ce0.7−xZrxCu0.3O2 for CO oxidation were investigated. The characterization results showed that all samples have a cubic structure, and a small amount of Zr doping facilitates Cu2+ ions entering the CeO2 lattice, but excessive Zr doping leads to the formation of surface CuO crystals again. Thus, the number of oxygen vacancies caused by the Cu2+ entering the lattice (e.g., Cu2+–□–Ce4+; □: oxygen vacancy), and the amount of reducible copper species caused by CuO crystals, varies with the Zr doping. Catalytic CO oxidation tests indicated that the oxygen vacancy and the reducible copper species were the adsorption and activation sites of O2 and CO, respectively, and the cooperative effects between them accounted for the high CO oxidation activity. Thus, the samples x = 0.1 and 0.3, which possessed the most oxygen vacancy or reducible copper species, showed the best activity for CO oxidation, with full CO conversion obtained at 110 °C. The catalyst is also stable and has good resistance to water during the reaction.

Performance and kinetics of iron-based oxygen carriers reduced by carbon monoxide for chemical looping

摘要: Chemical looping combustion is a promising technology for energy conversion due to its low-carbon, high-efficiency, and environmental-friendly feature. A vital issue for CLC process is the development of oxygen carrier, since it must have sufficient reactivity. The mechanism and kinetics of CO reduction on iron-based oxygen carriers namely pure Fe O and Fe O supported by alumina (Fe O /Al O ) were investigated using thermo-gravimetric analysis. Fe O /Al O showed better reactivity over bare Fe O toward CO reduction. This was well supported by the observed higher rate constant for Fe O /Al O over pure Fe O with respective activation energy of 41.1±2.0 and 33.3±0.8 kJ·mol . The proposed models were compared via statistical approach comprising Akaike information criterion with correction coupled with F-test. The phase-boundary reaction and diffusion control models approximated to 95% confidence level along with scanning electron microscopy results; revealed the promising reduction reactions of pure Fe O and Fe O /Al O . The boosting recital of iron-based oxygen carrier support toward efficient chemical looping combustion could be explained accurately through the present study.

Numerical study on laminar flame speed of natural gas-carbon monoxide-air mixtures

摘要: Laminar flame speeds of natural gas-carbon monoxide-air mixtures are calculated by CHEMKIN II with GRI Mech-3.0 over a large range of fuel compositions, equivalence ratios, and initial temperatures. The calculated results of natural gas are compared with previous experimental results that show a good agreement. The calculated laminar flame speeds of natural gas-carbon monoxide-air mixtures show a nonmonotonic increasing trend with volumetric fraction of carbon monoxide and an increasing trend with the increase of initial temperature of mixtures. The maximum laminar flame speed of certain fuel blend reaches its biggest value when there is 92% volumetric fraction of carbon monoxide in fuel at different initial temperatures. Five stoichiometric natural gas-carbon monoxide-air mixtures are selected to study the detailed chemical structure of natural gas-carbon monoxide-air mixtures. The results show that at stoichiometric condition, the fuel blend with 80% volumetric fraction of carbon monoxide has the biggest laminar flame speed, and the C normalized total production rate of methane with 80% volumetric fraction of carbon monoxide is the largest of the five stoichiometric mixtures.

Catalytic wet air oxidation of phenol, nitrobenzene and aniline over the multi-walled carbon nanotubes

摘要: Wet air oxidation (WAO) is one of effective technologies to eliminate hazardous, toxic and highly concentrated organic compounds in the wastewater. In the paper, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), functionalized by O , were used as catalysts in the absence of any metals to investigate the catalytic activity in the catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO) of phenol, nitrobenzene (NB) and aniline at the mild operating conditions (reaction temperature of 155°C and total pressure of 2.5 MPa) in a batch reactor. The MWCNTs were characterized with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), gas adsorption measurements (BET), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The functionalized MWCNTs showed good catalytic performance. In the CWAO of phenol over the functionalized MWCNTs, total phenol removal was obtained after 90 min run, and the reaction apparent activation energy was ca. 40 kJ·mol . The NB was not removed in the CWAO of single NB, while ca. 97% NB removal was obtained and 40% NB removal was attributed to the catalytic activity after 180 min run in the presence of phenol. Ca. 49% aniline conversion was achieved after 120 min run in the CWAO of aniline.

Nitrogen-doped carbon black supported Pd nanoparticles as an effective catalyst for formic acid electro-oxidation

摘要: Pd nanoparticles supported on nitrogen doped carbon black (Vulcan XC-72R) with two different levels of doping were prepared by the microwave-assisted ethylene glycol reduction process and used as catalyst for the formic acid electro-oxidation (FAEO). The results indicate that the different nitrogen doping contents in Pd/N-C catalysts have a significant effect on the performance of FAEO. A higher N content facilitates the uniform dispersion of Pd nanoparticles on carbon black with narrow particle size distribution. Furthermore, the electrochemical results show that the catalyst with a higher N-doping content possesses a higher catalytic activity and a long-term stability for FAEO. The peak current density of the Pd/N-C (high) catalyst is 1.27 and 2.31 times that of the Pd/N-C (low) and homemade Pd/C-H catalyst. The present paper may provide a simple method for preparation of high-performance anode catalyst for direct formic acid fuel cells (DFAFCs).

Enhancement of the electrocatalytic oxidation of antibiotic wastewater over the conductive black carbon-PbO

摘要: • A novel conductive carbon black modified lead dioxide electrode is synthesized. • The modified PbO2 electrode exhibits enhanced electrochemical performances. • BBD method could predict optimal experiment conditions accurately and reliably. • The modified electrode possesses outstanding reusability and safety. The secondary pollution caused by modification of an electrode due to doping of harmful materials has long been a big concern. In this study, an environmentally friendly material, conductive carbon black, was adopted for modification of lead dioxide electrode (PbO2). It was observed that the as-prepared conductive carbon black modified electrode (C-PbO2) exhibited an enhanced electrocatalytical performance and more stable structure than a pristine PbO2 electrode, and the removal efficiency of metronidazole (MNZ) and COD by a 1.0% C-PbO2 electrode at optimal conditions was increased by 24.66% and 7.01%, respectively. Results revealed that the electrochemical degradation of MNZ wastewater followed pseudo-first-order kinetics. This intimates that the presence of conductive carbon black could improve the current efficiency, promote the generation of hydroxyl radicals, and accelerate the removal of MNZ through oxidation. In addition, MNZ degradation pathways through a C-PbO2 electrode were proposed based on the identified intermediates. To promote the electrode to treat antibiotic wastewater, optimal experimental conditions were predicted through the Box-Behnken design (BBD) method. The results of this study suggest that a C-PbO2 electrode may represent a promising functional material to pretreat antibiotic wastewaters.

Effects of a diesel oxidation catalyst on gaseous pollutants and fine particles from an engine operating

摘要: The effects of a diesel oxidation catalytic (DOC) converter on diesel engine emissions were investigated on a diesel bench at various loads for two steady-state speeds using diesel fuel and B20. The DOC was very effective in hydrocarbon (HC) and CO oxidation. Approximately 90%–95% reduction in CO and 36%–70% reduction in HC were realized using the DOC. Special attention was focused on the effects of the DOC on elemental carbon (EC) and organic carbon (OC) fractions in fine particles (PM ) emitted from the diesel engine. The carbonaceous compositions of PM were analyzed by the method of thermal/optical reflectance (TOR). The results showed that total carbon (TC), OC and EC emissions for PM from diesel fuel were generally reduced by the DOC. For diesel fuel, TC emissions decreased 22%–32% after the DOC depending on operating modes. The decrease in TC was attributed to 35%–97% decrease in OC and 3%–65% decrease in EC emissions. At low load, a significant increase in the OC/EC ratio of PM was observed after the DOC. The effect of the DOC on the carbonaceous compositions in PM from B20 showed different trends compared to diesel fuel. At low load, a slight increase in EC emissions and a significant decrease in OC/EC ratio of PM after DOC were observed for B20.

细水雾作用下烟气组分浓度变化规律的模拟研究

摘要:

在ISO 9705 标准房间通过模拟实验研究了细水雾与火灾烟气的相互作用,揭示了细水雾作用下烟气中氧气、一氧化碳和二氧化碳浓度的变化规律,建立了氧气、一氧化碳和二氧化碳浓度与细水雾工作压力及风机速率的数学模型。实验发现当风机速率达到1.5 kg/s 时烟气组分浓度变化规律发生突变,对这一现象进行了深入分析和解释。本文为细水雾技术用于火灾烟气抑制提供了必要的理论基础和科学的参考依据。

Influence of environmental temperature and relative humidity on photocatalytic oxidation of toluene onactivated carbon fibers coated TiO

摘要: TiO supported on active carbon fiber (TiO/ACF), an absorbable photocatalyst, is a new kind of material applied in air purification. In this paper, the influence of environmental temperature (T) and relative humidity (RH) on the gas-solid adsorption of toluene and the photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) efficiency of adsorbed toluene on TiO/ACF were studied, and then, the purification capability of TiO/ACF was estimated. PCO results showed that although the PCO efficiency increased under high RH and T levels, the amount of adsorption of toluene decreased. Moreover, quantitative analysis results of intermediates indicated that more environmental risk emerged when PCO of toluene was carried out at higher environmental T and RH levels because more toxic intermediates would be accumulated on the TiO/ACF. So, it is significant to control the environmental T and RH conditions in the application of the PCO technique. T = 25°C and RH = 30% is the optimal condition for purifying toluene in our experimental system.

Emission components characteristics of a bi-fuel vehicle at idling condition

摘要: Natural gas (NG) represents today a promising alternative to conventional fuels for road vehicles propulsion, since it is characterized by a relatively low cost, better geopolitical distribution than oil, and lower environmental impact. This explains the current spreading of compressed natural gas (CNG) fuelled spark ignition (SI) engine, above all in the bi-fuel version, which is able to run either with gasoline or with NG. However, the aim of the present investigation is to evaluate the emission characteristics at idling condition. The vehicle engine was converted to bi-fueling system from a gasoline engine, and operated separately either with gasoline or CNG. Two different fuel injection systems (i.e., multi-point injection (MPI)-sequential and closed-loop venturi-continuous) are used, and their influences on the formation of emissions at different operating conditions are examined. A detailed comparative analysis of the engine exhaust emissions using gasoline and CNG is made. The results indicate that the CNG shows low air index and lower emissions of carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO ), and total hydrocarbon (THC) compared to gasoline.

Review on the applications of Tropospheric Emissions Spectrometer to air-quality research: Perspectives for China

摘要: The Tropospheric Emissions Spectrometer (TES) aboard the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA’s) Aura satellite launched in July 2004 is the first satellite instrument to provide simultaneous retrievals of ozone (O) and carbon monoxide (CO) throughout the Earth’s lower atmosphere. This paper briefly reviews the TES instrument, the retrieval of O and CO profiles, and the validation of the retrievals. The applications of TES O and CO products include mapping the vertical and horizontal distribution of tropospheric O and CO and their correlations, examining the regional and continental outflow, and analyzing the variability of the two species associated with certain weather and climatic conditions, such as El Niño and the Asian monsoon. TES retrievals of O and CO offer an important new source of satellite data over China with good spatial and temporal coverage that can provide evaluation and constraints on the performance of chemical transport models in simulating the general features of ozone pollution over China. Special observations have been conducted and requests may be submitted to the TES team to make geographically focused observations of O and CO over China.

Copper nanoparticles/polyaniline-derived mesoporous carbon electrocatalysts for hydrazine oxidation

Copper nanoparticles-decorated polyaniline-derived mesoporous carbon that can serve as noble metal-free electrocatalyst for the hydrazine oxidation reaction (HzOR) is synthesized via a facile synthetic route. The material exhibits excellent electrocatalytic activity toward HzOR with low overpotential and high current density. The material also remains stable during the electrocatalytic reaction for long time. Its good electrocatalytic performance makes this material a promising alternative to conventional noble metal-based catalysts (e.g., Pt) that are commonly used in HzOR-based fuel cells.

Synthesis, physicochemical characterizations and catalytic performance of Pd/carbon-zeolite and Pd/carbon-CeO

摘要: In this work, xylene removal from waste gas streams was investigated via catalytic oxidation over Pd/carbon-zeolite and Pd/carbon-CeO nanocatalysts. Activated carbon was obtained from pine cone chemically activated using ZnCl and modified by H PO . Natural zeolite of clinoptilolite was modified by acid treatment with HCl, while nano-ceria was synthesized via redox method. Mixed supports of carbon-zeolite and carbon-ceria were prepared and palladium was dispersed over them via impregnation method. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area (BET), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and thermogravimetric (TG) techniques. Characterization of nanocatalysts revealed a good morphology with an average particle size in a nano range, and confirmed the formation of nano-ceria with an average crystallite size below 60 nm. BET analysis indicated a considerable surface area for catalysts (~1000 m ·g ). FTIR patterns demonstrated that the surface groups of synthesized catalysts are in good agreement with the patterns of materials applied in catalyst synthesis. The performance of catalysts was assessed in a low-pressure catalytic oxidation pilot in the temperature range of 100°C–250°C. According to the reaction data, the synthesized catalysts have been shown to be so advantageous in the removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), representing high catalytic performance of 98% for the abatement of xylene at 250°C. Furthermore, a reaction network is proposed for catalytic oxidation of xylene over nanocatalysts.
